reflection 12/20
we finished our project. we have all of the requirements. the void was easier than i thought. all it did was output our directions, but it doesnt return anything. so, after the user reads the directions and choses weither or not to play or to quit, the user has to cin an answer. in the code, the cin was outside of the void and was in the main.

reflection 12/19
we thought we were finished with the group project of making a game with code. however, when we looked at the rubric, we were missing doubles, and the void. i have no idea how we are going to put a void into our code when the game is to just unscramble word. we were able to put in a double. it was used to keep score

today i read about how a school teacher had bought "the holy grail" of christmas for his son:
the extremely popular game known as Guitar Hero III. he had bought the game for his son for
$90. then, one day, when he came home from work, he found his son with a bunch of friends smoking pot in the backyard. so, for his punishment, he sold the Guitar Hero game on an online auction for $9000. someone in australia bought the game for $9100. however, he does plan to give his son a game for christmas. he has a barbie game in mind though.

reflection 12/14
today we worked a lot on our game code. we limited the number of words that the user has to scramble from 10 words to 5 words. we were able to make it so that if the user got the word wrong, then a message would come up telling them to try again. but we were not able to figure out a way so that the same problem would show up again for them to try again. if we did ifs for all the elses that showed the "wrong" message, then the code would look unorganized and too long.

today i read about how the new movie called "the golden compass" topped the box office, but did not do as well as anticipated. the movie is also in controversy about its promotion of atheism. however, i would still like to go and see the movie and see the bears fight eachother. i also read about some new games that are coming out later in 2008 and what features they have due to the new technology in the xbox 360 and the ps3.

reflection 12/7
today we recieved a new project to work on that is due the end of class monday. if anything, the project got me confused more than the previous ones did. i dont even know what to input for the function portion of the code, since the main is already done for us. all the comments, even though they help me, also get me confused.

reflection 12/5
today i started to work on the second function project. this project confused me before ms petr explained where the equations go and what the program will be doin when the program is executed. i still dont quite understand how to go about writing up the code.

reflection 12/4
today i was able to somewhat finish the first function's program with a lot of help from ms petr. i still don'd understand the loops very well. the void stuff, and the getInfo i understand, like how the program saves inputed values and then comes back to them later. the second program, however, has gotten me stuck. really stuck.

reflection 11/30
my program, although i got it to output the distance of which the user has guessed, has a weird error. in the error tray, it doesnt show that there are errors, but when the code runs, after it displayst the user's guess, a pop-up shows that asks me to either break the code, or continue the code. breaking the code freezes up the output screen. continuing, it seems to do the right thing. however, i want to get rid of this problem.

reflection 11/29
today we recieved another example of a function code. then we continued our project. we got to understand that there were two different distances that this program would have. i was able to get the code to run and output and answer, but there were some errors that i would have to go back to correct.

reflection 11/28
today we recieved out functions project. the project is to make a game where the user inputs a distance and then trys to launch a projectile at the targeted distance. if the guess come to 1% close of the target, then the user wins. we also have to make it so that the user has 5 chances to get the guess right. im really confused on what to do about this project, more confused than the last project.

reflection 11/27
today we reviewed and refreshed on the new thing we learned about yesterday: functions. we refreshed on what return variables were and what the parameters were if there were any. we also learned about how to determine weither or not some varibles were pass-by-value or pass-by-reference. we received a packet to complete by the end of the class.

today i read about Hulk Hogan's wife filing divorce charges. i dont know why but Hulk said that his wife was away in California for three weeks. then, i read that the 2008 Miss Universe winner Ingrid Marie Rivera was pranked on. her gown was covered in a layer of pepper spray and she was over make-uped. this caused her to break out in hives two times. she still won, however, and people think she should be disqualified because she is too experienced.

today i read about the most dangerous city in the US: Detroit. according to FBI reports on September 24, Detroit became the most dangerous city, kicking back last year's most dangerous city, St. Louis, into second place. many people are wondering why this is going on because they believe the reports are useless in trying to help solve the problem. i also read that the cause of Kanye West's mother could have been due to the pressure to look thin.

reflection 11/15
today i got to almost finish all of my project. im starting to understand a little how loops work and how to use them in code. i also learned a new trick [system("cls");] which clears the screen of the previous output before the new output comes onto the screen. in the end, this turned out to be a pretty short and easy project.

reflection 11/14
today i did not do get to do much on my project on repitition and loops because i do not know what to do. i do not understand what the loops do and do not know how write the code. i need to get help either from the teacher, a friend, or my dad.

reflection 11/7
today we had to finish up the tracing loops worksheet. numbers 3 and 4 were weird because the outputs were really large. i wondered if we had to write every single number, but we were allowed to use an ellipses to show the beginning of the output and the end of the output. we received reading homework.

reflection 11/6
today we learned about loops and iteration. we took notes on the different kinds of loops like for, while, and do while. we then looked at a demo of what the codes look like. we received a worksheet of code to do and write the output. i got to do two.

study for quiz
i plan to especially study how to convert an if-else if- else code into a switch code. i am also planning to study what an output would be if the user inputs something. i would study how the outputs would differ depending on if the code is switch or not.

today we took a look at the new project we are going to do. it involves a selection story, where there is an output of the current going-ons and the user is given choices to advance in the story. depending on the user's choices, the story will have 4 different endings. we have to come up with our selections to make it easier to do.

reflection question #1 9/25
today i started my second programming project: geometric calculator.
i had to figure out how i was about to start this program. i decided it would be like the first program with all the variables, but instead of strings, i used int and double. i succeeded in allowing the user to input the length and width of a rectangle and let the computer find the area of the rectangle for them.
